Custom roller application moves precast segments into position along a launching truss.
Honolulu Authority Rapid Transit Light Rail Project created a solution to help reduce an estimated 40,000 car trips from congested streets and highways.
HART utilized precast concrete segmental construction to create a two-track light rail connection between West Oahu, downtown Honolulu and the Ala Moana Center on the island of Oahu. Each Hilman Roller was rated at 50 metric ton capacity.
The roller application is moving the precast segments into position along a launching truss. This project required two different styles of our modified 50-T double wide rollers to fit on the provided channel. These custom-made rollers featured slider-plates for lateral adjustment, Accu-Roll Guidance to maintain positive alignment, towing lugs for attachment to a chain drive system, lifting eye bolts to easily lift and handle, and a collar for Kiewit hydraulic cylinder installation.
Hilman provided these rollers to Kiewit Infrastructure West Co, who worked along with FIGG and HNTB Corporation for the first ten-mile section of the project.
